I would suggest a good 3 hours to see the house, gardens and museum. They also have a good restaurant.

If they are indeed closed on Saturdays, would I be able to still see the manor from the road if I drove there, or is the home out of view from the roadway?

Sorry, this answer may be too late, but I do NOT think you can see much from the road at all. Shame, but there is a very high wall all round the estate.
