ISLAMABAD (AP) — Afghans who fled after the Taliban seized power appealed Wednesday to President Donald Trump to exempt them from an order suspending the relocation of refugees to the United States, some saying they risked their lives to support U.S. troops.

President Donald Trump’s executive order to suspend the US refugee program could leave at least 2,000 Afghans in limbo who had previously been approved to resettle in the US, a major Afghan advocacy organization is warning.

The order “risks abandoning thousands of Afghan wartime allies” who worked with Americans before the Taliban takeover, the head of a resettlement group said.
