Airport Fire initially started 1:21 p.m. Sep. 9 in Orange, Riverside County. After being active for 18 days, it has burned 23,526 acres. A crew of 265 firefighters has been working on site and, by Friday morning, they managed to contain 95% of the fire. The wildfire originated from equipment usage.
Airport Fire Nears Full Containment in Riverside, Orange Counties
Containment of the Airport Fire in Riverside and Orange counties remained at 95% Saturday, with crews making sure no additional threats remain and drones outfitted with infrared sensors being used to detect any points of heat that could threaten the containment lines.
