Lehigh County issues burn ban as drought continues
The burn ban comes during an extremely dry period for the whole state. With only .02 inches of rain last month, October was the driest month on record for the Lehigh Valley. The National Weather Service said .29 inches of rain have fallen so far this month, which is not enough to put a “meaningful dent” in drought conditions.
Persistent dry weather forces Huntingdon County into 30 day burn ban
With dry weather and wildfires occurring throughout the Commonwealth, Huntingdon County has placed a 30-day burn ban. Throughout October and early November, wildfires have burned through forests and now Huntingdon County is taking precautions and hoping residents listen to the ban.
Burn ban in effect for Nueces County
During their meeting on Wednesday, Nueces County Commissioners plan to vote yes or no on whether to enact a burn ban. A decision that County Judge Connie Scott will have final say on. If the leaders decide to place a burn ban on the county it will run until Dec. 13.
