On Dec. 27, California Lottery representatives announced the winning $1.22 billion Mega Millions ticket was sold at the Circle K store on Rhonda Road in Cottonwood, with all six numbers on that ticket matching the drawing. It was the only ticket across the country to have those winning numbers.

The owners of the California gas station who sold the fifth largest Mega Millions ticket in history on Friday were elated to learn their store had played a small part in the $1.22 billion jackpot win as they rebuilt the business after a devastating fire three years ago.
