The National Weather Service said the Midwest, including Michigan, should expect freezing rain and ice accumulations starting Wednesday.

So here’s how it probably goes: Light snow and freezing rain develop Wednesday night and continue only until mid-morning Thursday. Snowfall across the southern half of Lower Michigan will only be an inch or two. Snowfall across northern Lower Michigan will only be one to three inches.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for several counties in Michigan as freezing rain is expected to move through the state.

The National Weather Service says southwest Michigan will be the first part of the state to be impacted Wednesday night as freezing rain falls.

Snow, freezing rain and ice are likely Wednesday in the Lansing area, and driving could become hazardous by Wednesday night, forecasters said.
