Police say an officer who forcefully removed a 'weapon' from a protester outside of a Hindu temple in Brampton was acting 'within the lawful execution of his duties' after bystander video of the incident circulated widely online.

According to the videos of the incident on social media, an officer allegedly engaged physically with a protestor at the Brampton Hindu Temple.

Peel police have released body camera footage from a protest outside the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton earlier this month, and say it shows an officer lawfully disarming a demonstrator.

Peel Regional Police say an officer “acted within the lawful execution of his duties” when trying to de-escalate a violent protest in Brampton earlier this month, further suggesting a video that has been widely circulated online “lacks context.
