Apple has submitted a US$10 million investment plan to the Indonesian government in hopes of lifting the ban on the iPhone 16 to enable its immediate sale in the local market.

Apple Inc. has proposed investing almost $10 million to make additional goods in Indonesia, according to people familiar with the matter, as it seeks to have the country’s ban on sales of its latest iPhone removed.

Following Indonesia's ban of the iPhone 16 because Apple has not invested enough in the country, the company has reportedly offered $10 million.

Indonesia said it has banned sales of smartphones made by Alphabet's Google due to rules requiring the use of locally manufactured components, days after blocking sales of tech giant Apple's iPhone 16 for the same reason.

Tech giant Apple Inc will not be allowed to sell its iPhone 16 smartphones in Indonesia because they have not met the country's rules on the use of locally made components, the industry ministry said.
