Brazil’s chief prosecutor has recommended a guilty verdict in the trial of former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is accused of leading a coup plot that sought to overturn the 2022 election result.

President Donald Trump has officially weighed in on the arrest of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, calling the arrest a "terrible thing."

Tarcísio de Freitas, governor of São Paulo state and a former infrastructure minister under Bolsonaro, told reporters Thursday that the U.S. tariffs would have a negative impact on the economy and for important industrial exporters from his state, including Brazilian plane maker Embraer.
