Republican Jeff Hurd continued to lead Democrat Adam Frisch on Wednesday in a tight race to be the successor of outgoing Colorado 3rd Congressional District Rep. Lauren Boebert. As of about noon on Wednesday, Hurd had received about 50.04% of over 365,000 votes counted while Frisch received about 47.39%.

GRAND JUNCTION — The race between Democrat Adam Frisch and Republican Jeff Hurd in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District was too close to call Tuesday night, leaving open the possibility that the district could be represented in Washington by a Democrat for the first time in more than a decade.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert currently represents the district and announced last December that she would change districts to continue representing Colorado in Congress. In 2022, Boebert narrowly won her re-election over Frisch by 546 votes.

The area tends to vote red, but Frisch put up a fight in 2022 against Boebert, losing only by about 500 votes. Since then, Boebert has left the 3rd District to focus on succeeding U.S. Rep. Ken Buck in the Eastern Plains’ conservative 4th District.

In 2022, it took more than a week for the 3rd Congressional District race between Frisch and Rep. Lauren Boebert to be sorted out, triggering an automatic recount because of the narrowness of the margin.
