In a recent interview with Swedish media outlet hockeysvierge, Vancouver Canucks rookie Jonathan Lekkerimäki dove into a number of topics on the heels of scoring his first NHL goal in his second NHL game against the New York Islanders on Thursday night.

However the best part of that first NHL goal was seeing the reactions of his parents, Ellinor and Peter, who were at Rogers Arena and got to witness the moment in person. The camera found the couple directly after the milestone goal and it’s easy to see how proud and emotional they were.

Jonathan Lekkerimäki had a memorable NHL debut. While the Vancouver Canucks 2022 first-round pick didn't end up on the scoresheet, he was able to generate some chances in the offensive zone while also playing strong defensively. Ultimately, Lekkerimäki didn't look out of place in the 14:07 he played against the Calgary Flames.

It didn't take long for Jonathan Lekkerimäki to score his first career goal as the Vancouver Canucks top prospect lit the lamp in just his second career game. The goal came 2:40 seconds into Vancouver's game against the New York Islanders and was just his third shot as an NHLer.
