Several drivers who expected to be vying for the Indy 500 pole either narrowly clinched a spot Saturday or still have work left to do

Pennsylvania’s Marco Andretti has qualified for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500. This is the twentieth consecutive year for him to race the 500. Marco said he lives in the commonwealth to be near family, including his famous grandfather Mario Andretti.

Andretti Global driver Marco Andretti recently spoke about driving for the Andretti Team after a change in the management that took place in September last year.

Four drivers faced off in a tense battle for the final three spots on the grid for the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. They were Andretti Global's Marco Andretti, Meyer Shank Racing's Marcus Armstrong, as well as the Dale Coyne Racing duo of Rinus Veekay and Jacob Abel.

Three familiar faces were at the top of the Indianapolis 500 qualifying board after the first round of time trials, with two-time defending IndyCar series champion Alex Palou holding the provisional pole.

Marco Andretti made a light-hearted comment after the first day of practice for the 2025 Indianapolis 500. He joked about how hard it was to keep up with the modern IndyCar cockpit.
