The first U.S. parent to be held criminally responsible for a mass school shooting committed by a child is asking a Michigan judge to throw out her involuntary manslaughter conviction.

Jennifer Crumbley is currently serving a 10-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter in the unprecedented case

In a first-of-its-kind conviction, separate juries found the parents negligent and liable for the crimes committed by their son, then-15-year-old Ethan Crumbley, who committed a mass shooting and killed four classmates at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, 2021.
