Nearly half the states in the U.S. are raising their minimum wages in 2025, meaning pay hikes for more than 9 million workers, according to a new report.
These are the 21 states where minimum wage will increase on Jan. 1
There are 21 states that will be raising the minimum wage on Wednesday — affecting approximately 9.2 million workers. In addition, 48 cities and counties have passed their own minimum wage increases.
These states will raise the minimum wage in 2025
Overall, the states set to raise their minimum wage on Wednesday include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
