As part of the plan, the diesel-fueled generators will stay in San Antonio for up to two years and customers connected to the state grid will pay an estimated $54 million for the generators to be moved, connected and operated.

All Texans connected to the state grid will now pay for the generators rather than just CenterPoint customers.

After a year of discussion, the state grid operator has decided the two oldest generating units at CPS Energy’s Braunig Power Station will be shut down this spring, their capacity replaced by a fleet of portable generators paid for by utility customers across the state.
