An AI gun detection system installed in a Nashville, Tennessee high school couldn’t spot the gun a 17-year-old used to fatally shoot another student and himself earlier this week, according to district officials.

A student opened fire inside Antioch High School, shooting two other students and then himself, the authorities said. A female student and the shooter were killed, officials said.

A 16-year-old female student was killed, another student was wounded, and the shooter—a 17-year-old male student—killed himself, per police.

Police are on the scene at Antioch High School near Nashville after shots were fired in the building on Wednesday.

They'll be protesting between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in front of the capitol. Speakers include lawmakers, students, and parents from the Covenant School.

A student-led 'Rally for Antioch' is scheduled to take place at the Tennessee State Capitol Monday, advocating for stronger gun laws ahead of a special session.

As Tennessee lawmakers return to Nashville, students will rally at the State Capitol to call on them to address gun violence.
