Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, with the midfielder saying the Gunners’ style of play attracting him to the Emirates. The long-awaited move was finally announced on Sunday, with the 26-year-old expected to sign for Arsenal for some months.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in a deal worth almost £60m. The Spain midfielder is the Gunners' second signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for £5m.

Such a move had been in the offing for several months having first been reported back in January, though Real Madrid are believed to have shown late interest in hijacking Arsenal’s swoop for Zubimendi after appointing Sociedad legend Xabi Alonso as their new manager to succeed Carlo Ancelotti.
