India captain Rohit Sharma is set to play on top order in the Boxing Day Test against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Stadium in Melbourne.

After missing the first Test at Perth, Rohit returned to the Adelaide pink-ball Test but chose to bat down the order following the immense success of the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul during the Perth Test win.

Addressing the media on Christmas Eve, Rohit quashed all doubts, stating succinctly, “It’s fine.” His calm demeanor offered much-needed reassurance to fans and teammates alike.

Rohit has been struggling in the current Test season, which kicked off with the Bangladesh series. He has only managed to score 152 runs in seven games, with an average of just 11.69.

In-form Australian batter Travis Head will be fit for the fourth test and India are considering restoring captain Rohit Sharma to the opener's slot for the match starting in Melbourne on Thursday. Head is the leading run scorer in the five-test series but the left-hander suffered a quad strain in Brisbane.

Aussies won the toss and elected to bat first. Both India and Australia have made big changes in their line-ups.

Australia heaved a major sigh of relief on Wednesday after skipper Pat Cummins declared run-machine Travis Head fit for the Boxing Day test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
