Cleanup started today in Huntsville’s John Hunt Park after the South Star Music Festival left it looking like a mud pit. Dawn Suiter attended the festival on Saturday. She said that it was slippery wet and muddy.

The second day of the inaugural South Star Music Festival has been canceled. Today’s lineup was to have featured blink-182, Beck, Sublime and other acts. Opening day performers Saturday at South Star included Gwen Stefani, Shinedown, TLC, Tom Morello, Ludacris and more.

After a wet weekend following Hurricane Helene, South Star decided to cancel day 2 after day 1 led to 'severe deterioration of the grounds.'

South Star organizers canceled today's event after consulting with city inspectors and determining the site was no longer safe. Items in lockers can be picked up.

Before fest's Sunday was canceled due to weather, Gwen Stefani, Tom Morello and others delivered memorable sets.

The inaugural South Star Festival is set for Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 at the John Hunt Park Festival Grounds, where crowds of thousands of people are expected to attend. Gates open both days at 1:00 p.m.
