This year’s South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade started earlier to curb last year’s public drinking and violence, which led to 11 arrests.

The Boston Police Department has announced that 9 people have been arrested, with 4 people being summoned to South Boston District Court following South Boston’s Saint Patrick’s Day parade.

The South Boston Allied War Veterans Council, which runs the parade, said Monday they could not confirm what department the firefighters represented.
