The USA has imposed sanctions on the Chinese company Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical for purchasing Iranian oil, in violation of American restrictions. This marks the first such action against China and may impact the supply of Russian oil.

The US has imposed restrictions on China for the first time over the purchase of oil subject to US sanctions, according to the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury. The sanctions were imposed on the Chinese Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical oil refinery,

The sanctions are part of the administration’s “campaign of maximum pressure on Iran,” the department said.
