Keurig Dr Pepper will acquire JDE Peet’s – whose brands include Douwe Egberts, Kenco and Peet’s Coffee – for more than $18 billion and split into two listed businesses.

Less than a decade after their merger, Keurig and Dr Pepper plan to become separate companies again. Keurig Dr Pepper said Monday it is buying the owner of Peet’s Coffee for $18 billion (15.7 billion euro).

The other firm, “Global Coffee Co.,” will be located in Burlington, Massachusetts, and its international headquarters will be in Amsterdam. The new unit will see Sudhanshu Priyadarshi appointed as CEO, and will boast roughly “$16 billion in combined annual net sales” with coffee as its main product.
