Lindor, who went 0-for-11 in the series, was only one component of the Mets’ sluggish output. Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo and Mark Vientos were also quiet in the series, as only Juan Soto (who reached base seven times, including a homer) left an imprint.

During his otherwise stellar tenure with the New York Mets, Lindor has struggled out of the gates. Seven of the eight worst months he’s had with New York have come in April and May — one reason he hasn’t made an All-Star team yet with the club — and last season he was hitting below .200 as late as May 21.

The Mets are expected to be one of the best teams in baseball this season but New York needs Francisco Lindor to return to form.
