Is AMD about to surpass Nvidia in the AI chip race?
Quick Read Nvidia (NVDA) holds 88% of the data center GPU market. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) launched its AI chip efforts just two years ago. AMD’s Helios platform matches Nvidia’s NVL72 system with 72 MI455X chips delivering 3 AI exaflops per rack.
It’s hard to believe, but Intel’s just-launched Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) laptop graphics may, in fact, be as good as a laptop from as little as two years ago running a discrete RTX 4000-series discrete GPU.
The GPU made its debut at CES alongside five other data center chips. Customers can deploy them together in a rack called the Vera Rubin NVL72 that Nvidia says ships with 220 trillion transistors, more bandwidth than the entire internet and real-time component health checks.
With incredibly powerful integrated graphics but a low CPU core count, the new Ryzen AI Max+ 388 could transform the gaming laptop space.
Intel's new Core Ultra Series 3 'Panther Lake' CPUs feature an upgraded Arc B390 GPU: RTX 4050 perf, 82% faster than the AMD Radeon 890M.
Announcements included the MI440X GPU for on-prem enterprise deployments and a longer-term roadmap that includes rack-scale AI systems and next-generation accelerators.
RedGamingtech describes Serpent Lake as an "APU monster" similar in remit to AMD's Strix Halo chip. It's said to sport Nvidia's next-gen Rubin GPU technology built on TSMC N3P silicon, while CPU tech from Intel's upcoming Titan Lake generation, more on which in a moment. Oh, and it's all supported by LPDDR6 memory.
An early glimpse at the CPUs and GPUs powering the PCs of tomorrow. Here's a rundown of the chips we hope to see from Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and Snapdragon at CES 2026.
AMD shows off its world-first 2nm EPYC 'Venice' CPU with Zen 6 cores, and the Instinct MI455X AI accelerator for its Helios AI racks.
Baidu and Huawei combined accounted for more than 70 percent of China's GPU cloud market in the first half of 2025. As reported by the South China Morning Post and citing a report from analysts Frost & Sullivan, GPU cloud providers are identified as those controlling the full chip-to-cloud value chain.
The Ryzen 3 1200 is at least a 4c/4t processor. It's not particularly high end but should at least meet the min requirements for a lot of games. It should be pretty similar to the i3-9100 my son had in his gaming system which worked well enough. The good ...

Intel+NVIDIA chase a CPU-GPU mega chip with massive cash at stake
The balance of power in high-performance computing is tilting toward tightly fused CPU-GPU designs, and two old rivals are suddenly aligned around that future. Intel and Nvidia are now chasing a mega chip that marries general-purpose compute with accelerated AI,
