Lunar New Year is nearly here, with January 29 ushering in the Year of the Snake. Google is ready to celebrate with an appropriately snake-ified Doodle. In addition to the main Lunar New Year Doodle, Google’s also got a special edition for South Korea.

In 2025, the Lunar New Year will be celebrated on January 25th. The Year of the Snake will begin on this day and last until February 12th, 2026. The snake is the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac. It symbolises wisdom, cunning, and mystery. Snakes are also considered very lucky creatures.

Google is marking the Year of the Snake with an animated Google Doodle of the classic Snake game. The search engine giant said it is celebrating the Lunar New Year with the playable doodle which it said "transports people back in time.
