If you, too, face a similar problem, first, restart your computer and see if you can delete it. If not, here are a few things you could try. Go to the desktop folder/s and try deleting from there.

I am trying to fix an HP Pavilion A610E, running WinXP SP3. The Recycle Bin icon on the desktop shows that there are files in it, and when I right-click it, it does give me the option to empty.
