A federal appeals court in San Francisco is set to hear arguments on whether the Trump administration should return control of National Guard troops to California.

A federal appeals court will hear arguments on Tuesday on President Donald Trump's authority to deploy the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles amid protests and civil unrest, days after a lower court ruled that the president unlawfully called the National Guard into service.

A three-judge panel will determine whether National Guard troops can remain under President Trump’s command in Los Angeles as protests against immigration raids continue.

More charges are expected to be announced Tuesday in connection with recent Los Angeles ICE raid protests, of which turned violent. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli and California Highway Patrol Southern Division Chief Chris Margaris are expected to speak at 10 a.
