The outage came after the Trump administration on Monday ordered a sweeping pause on federal spending. States and lawmakers early Tuesday began reporting that portals across the country were inaccessible.

The outage at least temporarily jeopardized payments the federal government makes to state programs, and sowed uncertainty for patients, doctors, hospitals and others.

The Medicaid website portal was down on Tuesday afternoon, but payments have not been affected, according to the White House. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) posted on X, formerly Twitter, that all 50 states are experiencing an outage to Medicaid portal.
