A blast at the Indian Oil refinery in Mathura injured eight workers, three of whom are in critical condition. The explosion occurred during the restart of a maintenance-closed unit, leading to severe burns.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion followed by flames shooting up from the Mathura refinery. Flames were visible from several kilometres away, they said.

Two workers were injured with 50 per cent burns, another two with 40 per cent burns and the remaining four with burns covering 20 per cent of their bodies.
