A program that allowed schools and food banks to purchase fresh, local ingredients was slashed by the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump's administration cut USDA funding to Kansas to help schools get local meats and food banks get fresh fruits and vegetables.

Two Long Island food banks said they previously got $2.6 million in the USDA funding, while a state education official said New York schools had been slated to receive another $27.7 million.
