The Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) has issued an new hazard map showing much of the Reykjanes Peninsula under alert after the eruption began on Wednesday morning.

The Government of Iceland says this eruption is highly localized and poses no threat to infrastructure, tourist attractions, or air traffic, but it does pose certain health hazards.
