At least 46 people died and more than 200 were missing following sudden, heavy rain in Indian Kashmir, officials said on Thursday, the second such disaster in the Himalayas in a little over a week.

Dozens more remain missing after torrents of water and mud driven by intense rain crashed through a Himalayan village.

At least 32 people are dead in flash floods caused by torrential rains in a remote, mountainous village in Indian-controlled Kashmir, a top disaster management official said Thursday, as rescue teams scouring the devastated Himalayan village brought at least 100 people to safety.
