A former Miami Heat employee appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with transporting and transferring stolen goods in interstate commerce after allegedly stealing millions of dollars worth of items from the team.

M arcos Thomas Perez, a 25-year retired veteran of the City of Miami Police Department, is accused of stealing millions of dollars worth of Miami Heat game-worn jerseys and other valuable memorabilia that were later sold to online brokers, according to a press release issued Tuesday by The United States Department of Justice.
