A public feud between President Donald Trump and his on-again, off-again ally, billionaire Elon Musk, reignited this week after an apparent truce lasted less than a month.

Elon Musk's time in the Trump administration has come to an end with a news conference in the Oval Office in which he and the US president defended the work of Doge - and vowed it would continue, even without Musk. According to President Trump, Musk is "not really leaving" and will continue to be "back and forth" to the White House.

Trump, making his first comments on Musk’s criticism of his bill during an Oval Office press conference, insinuated the Tesla CEO opposes his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” because he is “upset” the electric vehicle tax credit was removed, adding he’s not sure he’ll remain friends with Musk and alleging Musk “knew the inner workings of the bill.”
