The president has defended his administration's response to the fatal flooding amid criticism that federal assistance could have been provided more quickly.

The reporter said that several families were angry because they felt that alerts for the flood did not go out in time.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump and Texas lawmakers on Friday defended the federal government’s response to the deadly July Fourth flooding in Central Texas, claiming that aid was quickly dispatched to reeling communities after the floodwaters swept through.

It’s hard to believe the devastation,' Trump said. 'Trees that are 100 years old just ripped out of the ground. I've never seen anything like this, and I've seen a lot of bad ones.'
