The Trump administration is opening new investigations into allegations of antisemitism at five U.S. universities including Columbia and the University of California, Berkeley, the Education Department announced Monday.

The war in Gaza sparked protests at universities across the U.S. last school year, including at Portland State. Reports of both antisemitism and Islamophobia were rampant.

The Department of Education is investigating antisemitism allegations at five universities after the president’s executive order last week requiring federal agencies to take more action against antisemitism.

Under Trump's direction, the DOE will investigate Northwestern University, Portland State University, University of California, Berkley and University of Minnesota, Twin Cities alongside Columbia.

The schools under investigation are Columbia University, Northwestern University, Portland State University, The University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
