Canada Soccer has hired Casey Stoney as head coach of the national women's team. The 42-year-old former England captain was named the National Women's Soccer League coach of the year in 2022 with San Diego Wave FC.

The Canada WNT has a new head coach, with Canada Soccer officially handing former San Diego Wave boss Casey Stoney the reins on Monday.

Casey Stoney, 42, who played more than 130 matches for the English national team, previously served as the first head coach of Manchester United Women and went on to win Coach of the Year honours at the helm of the NWSL’s San Diego Wave. She was fired from the Wave last June amid a seven-game losing streak.
