The Tampa Bay Lightning fell to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night which is pathetic when you factor in that Chicago is just 1 point off the worst
The Chicago Blackhawks took down the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena Tuesday night to win the rematch, 4-1. After the Lightning came back to win in overtime 4-3 on Friday, the Blackhawks shut them down and rattled off four unanswered goals.
The Blackhawks entered the game with the fifth-best penalty-kill percentage in the league. But the Lightning netted PPGs on a five-on-four, six-on-four, and four-on-three. As a result, they banked two crucial points in the standings.
But Blackhawks star Connor Bedard scored the tying goal with five seconds left on Chicago’s one-man-advantage with a remarkable tight-angle shot that found a tiny opening between goaltender Jonas Johansson’s left shoulder and the crossbar.
Limited cap space and draft capital could affect what the Maple Leafs and Lightning do by the NHL trade deadline, but there are areas where they clearly need a boost.
