The Brewers won the National League Central crown behind Murphy's work in the dugout. He was rewarded with the National League Manager of the Year Award on Tuesday night.

Murphy, who had previously served as Counsell's bench coach in Milwaukee for eight seasons, brought his hard-nose, no-frills mindset to the Brewers from the jump, a mentality that manifested itself in a simple motto that defined how he and the team would approach each and every game for six months.
