A fire north of a jail complex in Castaic has triggered evacuations in L.A. County, even as Southern California hopes for some rain to help with firefighting efforts.
Mandatory evacuation orders were issued to neighborhoods surrounding the Castaic Lake, about 10 miles north of Santa Clarita. Meanwhile nearby neighborhoods were under evacuation warnings.
Named the Hughes fire, the blaze was reported just after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the area of Lake Hughes Road and the 5 Freeway and close to Castaic Lake, according to Cal Fire.
