Apple Inc. has proposed investing almost $10 million to make additional goods in Indonesia, according to people familiar with the matter, as it seeks to have the country’s ban on sales of its latest iPhone removed.

Following Indonesia's ban of the iPhone 16 because Apple has not invested enough in the country, the company has reportedly offered $10 million.

Indonesia said it has banned sales of smartphones made by Alphabet's Google due to rules requiring the use of locally manufactured components, days after blocking sales of tech giant Apple's iPhone 16 for the same reason.

Apple had pledged to invest around $109 million in Indonesia, but it's about $15 million short. It also failed to ensure the iPhone 16 has at least 40% locally manufactured components.
