Michael Madsen’s cause of death has been confirmed less than a week after the “Reservoir Dogs” star was found unresponsive in his Malibu home on July 3.

"The doctor's report is accurate that he died from heart failure," said Smith, referring to a statement that Madsen's cardiologist made to NBC4 Los Angeles. He added that "heart disease and alcoholism" were named as "contributing factors."
