With the No. 39 pick Friday, the Bears completed their mega-deal with the Carolina Panther by selecting Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden. Meeting with the media after he was selected by Chicago with the 39th overall pick, Burden revealed that he and Williams were actually supposed to be teammates at Oklahoma, but the quarterback left the Sooners following coach Lincoln Riley to USC. Burden played his entire collegiate career at Missouri.

Burden recorded 1,212 passing yards during his 2023 season at Missouri. Although his production dropped during his final 2024 campaign, he was ranked as the No. 35 overall prospect and No. 5 wide receiver available in the draft on the final B/R 2025 NFL Draft Big Board.
