Anguished parents waited for word on the more than two dozen children still missing from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls' camp.

Officials said more than 850 people had been rescued, including some clinging to trees, after a sudden storm dumped more than a foot of rain in an area around the Guadalupe River.

The danger has extended to Travis, Williamson and Burnet counties, where very dangerous flash flooding is ongoing Saturday morning. Between 5 and 12 inches of rainfall has fallen there, the weather service said, calling it a "Particularly Dangerous Situation with life-threatening flash flooding."
