STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Jackson Memorial Middle School was placed in a shelter-in-place Tuesday morning after a round of ammunition was found in a locker. Jackson Local Schools officials said a student found the ammunition and “out of an abundance of caution,” the school followed shelter-in-place protocols.

Tuslaw Middle School is a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, the only such location in Stark County to win the honor this year. The U.S. Department of Education made the announcement Monday. Tuslaw Middle School was among 356 schools from across the nation recognized for academic achievements.
