Brad Marchand’s wife couldn’t hold back her emotions when talking about what the Florida Panthers star had to leave behind in pursuit of winning the Stanley Cup, even being far away from his family.

With the help of their state not having income tax, Florida re-signed forward Brad Marchand and defenseman Aaron Ekblad on Monday, a day before the start of NHL free agency. Marchand, 37, signed a six-year contract with a $5.25 million average annual value, while Ekblad, 29, got an eight-year contract with a $6.1 million AAV.

If Brad Marchand hits the open market on Tuesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs will reportedly be among several teams interested in the forward's services. And likely one of the frontrunners to land him.
