In order to reach remote fires in the State Responsibility Area, CAL FIRE maintains a fleet of firefighting aircraft, many of which were converted from or originally designed as military aircraft.

Firefighters are continuing to battle a series of major fires ravaging the Los Angeles area that have left at least 10 people dead and devastated communities.

At least 11 people were reported dead in fires raging across Los Angeles. Five lived near each other in a ravaged Altadena neighborhood.

Boulder Fire-Rescue said it received a resource request to help with the fires in southern California that have devastated the Los Angeles area. It’s one of several agencies to get the call and FOX31's Nate Belt spoke to the firefighters deploying about how they prepare.
