Perry, the donkey that served as the model for “Donkey," a character in the “Shrek” movies, has died. He was 30.

"Shrek is coming out and Donkey's gonna have his own movie." Murphy has been speaking about returning to the Shrek universe for a while and in January 2023 proclaimed he wanted a spin-off for Donkey.

The Barron Park Donkey Project in the San Francisco Bay Area says Perry was euthanized on Jan. 2 after his health worsened. Perry was well known at the park for his link to the 2001 “Shrek” movie.
