A marijuana dispensary will replace Atlantic City’s First Presbyterian Church, but its sandstone will find a new home at the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, D.C.
S.J. Hauck Construction is removing the sandstone bricks from the former church, which are from the same quarry as those used in the construction of the Smithsonian Castle.
Carly Bond, the Smithsonian’s associate director of architectural history and historic preservation, said the quarry that supplied the Castle closed in 1901.
