Ana de Armas has insisted her role in 'Ballerina' is "not John Wick" - despite being part of the same franchise.

Ana de Armas is stepping into the John Wick universe with Ballerina, an action-packed spinoff film that promises to expand the franchise’s intricate world of assassins while carving out its own unique identity.

Ballerina may be set in the same criminal underworld as John Wick, but its hero is very different, according to star Ana de Armas. She plays the assassin Eve Macarro in the spinoff film, which hits theaters on June 6,

Len Wiseman (Director): One of the things that was very important early on was that I was not setting out to do a female John Wick, that John Wick is John Wick. This is an entirely different character, kick-ass (in) her own right. (She’s) a new character within the world, not somebody that's replicating what John Wick does.

As excitement builds for Ballerina, the highly anticipated John Wick spinoff, Ian McShane, who plays the enigmatic Winston Scott, has teased his character’s intriguing relationship with Ana de Armas’ Eve Macarro in the film.
